Read Superhero's post on being in the community more yesterday. it must have had an impact as I've been busy contacting people and arranging social meet ups. I'm off out for a coffee on my bench then off to the post office. I hope to go to the beach this afternoon

I could not resist getting
I could not resist getting outside this morning into the spring sun. Not having a bench to sit on (I so envy you that bench!), I walked on the sunny side of the road towards the Chinese supermarket. While in there, a lovely Chinese woman shared her recipe for steamed carrot cake with me and spent a little time talking about her daughter. I really welcomed this, as in Edinburgh we have a reputation for not chatting or having a sense of community, but sometimes that is proved wrong.
love the chinese supermarkets !
How nice to have an encouter like that. I always think their vegetables look wonderful pack choi and other greens. I'm often in to buy jasmine tea.
Porty was wonderful my friends two children played in the sand (and the smaller one ate it !) bracing but wonderful
Eating sand
Your friend's child sounds as if s/he is up for a bit of experimentation. It's sad that too often the sand-eating impulse fades before we leave childhood behind.
extra roughage
just told the child's mother it was extra roughage!
